Appraisers of Seymour Fogel's Work

Selecting a conflict-free, certified appraiser is vital to accurately determining the value of Cy's work.

As requested by nearly a dozen members, we can recommend certified fine art appraisers who can ascribe a financial value to Cy's work -- either for auction, private sale, insurance, or other purposes.

Typically we provide a list of multiple appraisers in the requested geographic area. Each is a registered professional with one or more appraisal associations and cite 20th Century Modern, Post-War, or Contemporary Art as an area of their expertise. We encourage the recipient to contact each appraiser, confirm their expertise, and inquire about pricing and timing.

When selecting an appraiser, it is absolutely critical they have no ability or incentive to influence the price of Cy's work.

That is, any selected appraiser must not:

    • Be associated with any gallery or agent selling/brokering his work

    • Represent, directly or indirectly, any other entity selling Fogel's work

Such a relationship represents a clear conflict of interest and must be avoided for credible and accurate valuations. Those with conflicts may either over- or under-value Cy's work -- limiting the ability to effectively sell or insure his work. Furthermore, an informed buyer or any reputable insurance company may inquire, request, or require the appraiser be conflict-free.

To date, we have recommended certified, conflict-free appraisers in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Texas, California, Nevada and other states where Cy lived and worked.

Ultimately the appraiser you engage, if any from those suggested, is your decision. Importantly, we have no relationship with any suggested appraisers and we receive no benefit or compensation from recommending any particular appraiser. We are only here to help.
